What is an ADU? (E4)

An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), also known as a granny flat, in-law suite, or backyard cottage, is a secondary dwelling unit with complete independent living facilities, such as its own kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area within a single-family home’s lot. ADUs are used for various purposes, including providing additional housing for family members, rental income, or as a home office or studio. ADUs can offer several benefits, including increasing the value of the property, addressing housing shortages, and providing affordable housing options.
